Nigeria student charged with cheating two women
PETALING JAYA: A Nigerian college student who allegedly cheated women by promising expensive gifts has been charged in two separate magistrate’s courts here.
Collins Sparklys Obianke, 33, claimed trial before magistrate Salamiah Salleh and magistrate Mohd Azali Ibrahim yesterday.
Obianke is accused of cheating Foo Pooi Yun, 38, and S. Vanitha, 31, into making them believe that they had received a parcel each containing a handbag, laptop, mobile phone, watches, sunglasses and perfume from overseas which would require each of them to deposit RM10,500 into a bank account between Aug 24 and Sept 14 this year.
According to the facts of the cases, Obianke had befriended the girls on Facebook and made them pay “delivery charges” for their “dating gifts” from abroad.
He was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries 10 years’ jail, whipping and a fine.
The court allowed RM11,000 bail in one surety for both charges.
Obianke was also ordered to surrender his passport to the court.
